Early Bird Travel Guide: Choosing the Right Airport for Your Turkish Riviera Holiday

The summer season is just around the corner, and we are all busy making our holiday plans. Booking early is the key to securing significantly discounted prices and making your vacation much more affordable.

However, saving money on your hotel stay is not enough. You can also get great deals on flight tickets, airport transfers, and local tours by planning ahead. As you make your arrangements, we’d like to share some practical information to help you along the way.

In several regions, there are two different airports available. Choosing the airport closest to your hotel will not only save you precious time but also allow you to book more affordable airport transfers. Here is some essential information regarding popular holiday destinations:

• Kaş & Kalkan: Both are located within the borders of Antalya province. However, Dalaman Airport is actually much closer to these areas. Kaş has become a very popular destination recently; while it lacks large hotels, it offers many villas that are highly preferred by families. For large groups, villa rentals are the top choice. We strongly recommend travelers headed to Kaş or Kalkan to book flights to Dalaman Airport instead of Antalya Airport.
• Antalya: As Turkey’s second most visited city, it boasts numerous luxury hotels, high-quality resorts, and historic sites—the most famous being the Aspendos Theater.
• Didim, Akbük, Altınkum, and Six Senses Kaplankaya Hotel: For these destinations, we recommend using Milas-Bodrum Airport. Please note that Bodrum Airport gets very busy in the summer, with nearly 25 daily flights from Istanbul alone, plus numerous international arrivals.
• Kuşadası: As one of the birthplaces of Turkish tourism, it is technically closer to Izmir Airport. However, since there are often more flight options to Bodrum, many Kuşadası visitors choose to fly into Bodrum Airport instead.
• Alanya: If you can find a suitable flight, we recommend choosing Gazipaşa Airport. It is much closer to Alanya than Antalya Airport. While many airlines prefer Antalya Airport due to its central location for other regions, there are several airlines that fly directly to Gazipaşa from specific locations.
